Post 86

Have you ever been 86ed from someplace? I have. I was with my family, and we were too noisy because we were pretty happy and excited to be together and we were 86ed from this bar in Seattle.

Well I call that an accomplishment. First of all, life is loud sometimes; and you should just stand back and let it be loud.
It won’t always be loud and clear. So you should enjoy it when it is.

Too Weird

There are few plans so weird or so ‘out-there’ that they’re completely unworkable, especially with a little tweaking. The way to tell if you can use a wild idea is to try it on for size. I mean, just go there and you can tweak it on the way. The process of examining it from different angles might make another solution or plan reveal itself.

Don’t limit yourself to only things that will probably work. On the way to “no way that will work” is “well maybe this aspect of it could work,” and if you weren’t going for “way out there” you could have never found the aspect that is on the way.

Here is an example. Lets say you want to plan to make a movie. You have no experience and no equipment, no nothing but a dream. Call someone who is already in posession of a movie camera and ask to borrow it. They may say yes. They may let you go with them and use it. Who knows. One thing could lead to another. The reality of it is, people w ho have no experience or money or anything have made movies before. That is how film noir started. You might blaze a new trail because you know nothing that has been done before. Sometimes that is a blessing.

Henry Darger

There is an artist named Henry Darger that painted these most unusual paintings in his room in Chicago all his life and never showed anyone. Then he died and the landlady went in and the rest is history. Now is his famous and his work is sold all over the world. He never saw any of it. He was a recluse.

What a shame that he did not get to see what would have happened to him if he had ventured out into the world.
Don’t let that happen to you. You don’t know how your work may fit into the world.

I hate it when people say”I am not good enough.” How the heck do you know if you are good enough? Let me be the judge of that.

A Well-Ordered Room

Feng Shui works because it makes order in your life. If you know where everything is in your house and where it goes, it will give you power. Power because you aren’t spinning your wheels looking for everything all the time. I just cleaned out my laundry room. I had all these boxes and suitcases and miscellaneous things stacked up and now they are all put away. Small thing, no big thing. I have space that did not exist before. Now I have a laundry room. I am going to do the rest of my house and my studio next. Now I have energy in my head to work clearly. I am proactive. Junky house you are 100 percent reactive. When you are reactive you are slogged down in every inch of your life.

I know people that have a lot of things in their house but it is not junky. They know where everything is. They are the super minds.
Me, I am not, so I need less things to distract me from where I am going. The pleasure of an ordered room is soothing and freeing

Just One Thing

My head is s storm of ideas in the morning. I have had all night of being asleep (but figuring things out).  When the morning comes, it is pretty much a stream of new plans.

I almost always write in the morning after I first get up. The ideas are most fresh and I can still feel the results from mulling all outcomes over in my mind.
Some people take a long time to wake up and start living but not me.

Almost every organization book says to plan out your day the night before but I always do it in the morning. The night stew is way too valuable not to use as input for the morning planning.  It would be like throwing out the chicken stock you have made from scratch and making soup with water.  Use the stock.

Last night I had this idea to organize more than my basement. I also need to organize my head. Take all the things that do not have a useful purpose anymore. I was saving some pictures from my past before I was married. They had energy so I tossed them. My head was connected to old things and that needed to go. I need to have clear water and only one thing to focus on. That one this is right now. Here, now, what can I do now.

Don’t rest on your laurels . That was then and this is now
