small spaces

I love small spaces. When I was in Paris our room was 10 feet by 10 feet. In that small space they fit a really comfortable bed and a tiny desk and a tiny marble bathroom. Everything was exquisite even though it was a tiny space. the elevator was tiny too, like 2 feet by three feet. but beautiful will all this curly ironwork. the walls were upholstered in beautiful fabric including the ceiling.

We were very happy in our tiny room. So because I live in a big house I make tiny rooms in in because that is where I can think. I think it helps me focus. If you are like me your mind goes all over the place and small space helps me reign in the wild horses, I need those horses to pull me and if they are running all over the place they do me no good, I have a theory that the less distractions the better for thinking. And that leads me to another thought.

All this praise of mulitasking is crazy. Nobody can multitask. you can only do one thing or another. or both things are not done well. thats the truth. what do you think??????

The perfect store

What is the perfect store for you?? What would be in it? For me it would be inspiration. I love to go to stores that have all kinds of things that I have never thought of before placed all over the room in a gorgeous way and it smells really good and the storekeeper is really accessible and loves you the minute you come in the door. And everything is so beautiful and everything is a lot of money because well you get what you pay for. I would like to pay dearly for something that was wonderful. It means more that way. Cheap is not always a bargain.

The best store I have ever been to was “MacKenzie Childs” in New York. There were stores like this in Paris of course but not as good as MC. Not only was every square inch fantastic but they had beautiful teacups glued to the ceiling so when you looked up you said AaAhhh. Your eyes could barely take in everything. And it did smell good, like heaven, and the clerks were so nice and they were not at all like New York snobbies who are everywhere on Madison Avenue. they really loved you up .

You are a store. I am a store. Everyone is a store with things for sale. Every word we utter is for sale. Someone will buy it or not. I was just thinking about this last night.
I hope I am selling something valuable to everyone I meet. I want them to feel so good after talking to me that they never want to leave. That is my goal.

Everything you need

You have everything you need right now. Even if you are stranded on a desert island you have everything you need right now. It all depends on what you are doing. If you are doing nothing much then you have everything you need. If you have a building to build then you also have everything you need. all you need is a brain. the rest is only imaginary. You think I need bla bla but you might not.

I used to sell art and I did not even have a car. I used to take the bus and go on appointments. I made sales and I did not even have anything but a borrowed projector and slides that people sent me.  To sell art I made the huge cash outlay of 100 dollars to mail out the marketing cards that I hand made. I did have a phone though so I was not that bad off. My husband laughs when I tell him the stories about how I would take th e bus to Seattle and go give a presentation to the gal the curates the art for Safeco Corporation. Up there in the big office building on the top floor I was talking to this woman who did not know that I had no money and took the bus there. She said it was nice to talk to someone who has such a thorough knowledge of the art world. I read a lot of art magazines and knew how to talk the talk. I bought a couple of nice suits from the goodwill. I looked the part. I had pearls and pumps. I was a businesswoman with my own company. they did not know the difference. Nobody knows anything but what you tell them. I did things that I did not know how to do on a regular basis in my life.

Once I worked for a lawyer and was his main secretary. I had a secretary and what I did was delegate all my work to others and I organized his desk and looked like I knew what was going on. I just helped him live. I can’t believe that I got away with that one now that I look back. But again people have no reason not to trust you till they know they can’t trust you.

Maybe you can do a job you are totally not qualified for but in the doing of it you learn then you are qualified. You can come in the back door all the time. So you see, you have everything you need.

the Recession

The best time to start a new business is now. When everybody is moaning and groaning about how bad things are and how this economy is and how high the unemployment is they are looking down at their shoes.
If anyone has a new idea people will gravitate toward it like crazy. NObody likes to look down and anybody who looks up and moves will get noticed big time.

A new business is a ray of hope and that is what people want when things are seemingly bad and getting worse. That is when to strike and hit and run and go. Now now now is the best time. There is no better time than than now. If twenty people believed that , things would change dramatically overnight. Hope inspires movement and growth and that creates momentum.

The entire economy is built on a wave of people acting the same way. Everybody does not think this is a good time to move so no one does. Everybody thinks this is a good time to move and everybody does. Everybody is just you and me times a million. That is all just a bunch of folks who believe one thing or another.

New Business= Best time is now

Expectation

People that are expecting something to happen usually are right. People that expect things to go well are usually right. People that expect things to go wrong are usually right too.

What is the power of expecting?

I know for a fact that I am more likely to respond to somebody who is open and alive and excited about living than someone who is not. It is too much work to get to know someone who is not sitting there expecting something great to happen. I love being next to somebody who is looking at the door of opportunity and has wide open eyes in expectation of something big to walk right through that door.

Now my question is – is everybody else like me? Well what do you think?

Non-expecting people suck energy out of a room. Yup. And people jumping out of their skin with expectation are like a screaming energy source. Is that just for me?  Heck no, it is for everybody on planet earth.

Therefore go forth and expect great things and give what you got back to every body who has the extreme pleasure of knowing you!!
