Performance Art

When I lived in San Francisco I used to go to performance art shows. I have never been to one here but there they were a common occurrence. Most of them were pretty meaningless to me. If you can’t understand what the point is, why bother. But Art for Arts sake is common in the ART world. Nobody questions it because they might look like they don’t get it.

I saw a movie that Miranda July made. She is a performance artist that made a movie called “You, and Me and everyone else”. Her work resonated with me in a big way. She talks about people and all the things nobody says out loud. That is what I do in my blog so we are sisters there. Her tender way of doing things speaks like someone whispering in your ear. She has an innovative way of seeing the world and presenting it back to the viewer. Her work makes you think about things you haven’t thought about but maybe should.

Little moments are the sweetest part of life. Little moments we have when we see someone else in a new light. Her work is honest and that is the highest praise for an artist. And you have to think wow some people sure are sensitive to little things that most people overlook at mundane when they really aren’t mundane but beautiful. She is very popular and I can see why. People are hungry for beauty any place they can get it. We are made that way.

The shoe scene

Blog Spam.

I do not know where Spam comes from. Do people sit and write things on blogs just to get you to click on their site. Someone explain this. Spam just keeps coming from all over the world in many different languages. Keeps coming. Who are these people and why pick on me. Are they people or computers. The one that gets me is the “Can I quote you blog, and the I am writing a college paper and etc etc. ”

What is the payoff for spam? Computer people out there tell me. I like the ham better because I know that is a real person and the best of all is a super real person who is commenting on what you just wrote. So real commenters , Thank you and I know it is a hassle to click all over the place but it is so wonderful for me to read what you write. Makes me feel like I am writing to just you. Just you .

an even more perfect store

An ever more perfect store is one where you could buy with no money. What if you could barter. I would sell something to someone who had something that I needed.

So you go in the store and the price says 100 dollars or a fantastic haircut and coloring job. That store would be the most fun. Would there be sales tax on a trade. Probably but you would only have to pay the tax in money. I would love to go into a store like that.

It would be as much fun to see what the trade was as it would be getting the item.
People don’t do that because it is too messy but it is not messy for me. I would do it. What do you think??

small spaces

I love small spaces. When I was in Paris our room was 10 feet by 10 feet. In that small space they fit a really comfortable bed and a tiny desk and a tiny marble bathroom. Everything was exquisite even though it was a tiny space. the elevator was tiny too, like 2 feet by three feet. but beautiful will all this curly ironwork. the walls were upholstered in beautiful fabric including the ceiling.

We were very happy in our tiny room. So because I live in a big house I make tiny rooms in in because that is where I can think. I think it helps me focus. If you are like me your mind goes all over the place and small space helps me reign in the wild horses, I need those horses to pull me and if they are running all over the place they do me no good, I have a theory that the less distractions the better for thinking. And that leads me to another thought.

All this praise of mulitasking is crazy. Nobody can multitask. you can only do one thing or another. or both things are not done well. thats the truth. what do you think??????

The perfect store

What is the perfect store for you?? What would be in it? For me it would be inspiration. I love to go to stores that have all kinds of things that I have never thought of before placed all over the room in a gorgeous way and it smells really good and the storekeeper is really accessible and loves you the minute you come in the door. And everything is so beautiful and everything is a lot of money because well you get what you pay for. I would like to pay dearly for something that was wonderful. It means more that way. Cheap is not always a bargain.

The best store I have ever been to was “MacKenzie Childs” in New York. There were stores like this in Paris of course but not as good as MC. Not only was every square inch fantastic but they had beautiful teacups glued to the ceiling so when you looked up you said AaAhhh. Your eyes could barely take in everything. And it did smell good, like heaven, and the clerks were so nice and they were not at all like New York snobbies who are everywhere on Madison Avenue. they really loved you up .

You are a store. I am a store. Everyone is a store with things for sale. Every word we utter is for sale. Someone will buy it or not. I was just thinking about this last night.
I hope I am selling something valuable to everyone I meet. I want them to feel so good after talking to me that they never want to leave. That is my goal.
