Blog Spam.

I do not know where Spam comes from. Do people sit and write things on blogs just to get you to click on their site. Someone explain this. Spam just keeps coming from all over the world in many different languages. Keeps coming. Who are these people and why pick on me. Are they people or computers. The one that gets me is the “Can I quote you blog, and the I am writing a college paper and etc etc. ”

What is the payoff for spam? Computer people out there tell me. I like the ham better because I know that is a real person and the best of all is a super real person who is commenting on what you just wrote. So real commenters , Thank you and I know it is a hassle to click all over the place but it is so wonderful for me to read what you write. Makes me feel like I am writing to just you. Just you .

  1. From Wikipedia on the subject: “Adding links that point to the spammer’s web site artificially increases the site’s search engine ranking. An increased ranking often results in the spammer’s commercial site being listed ahead of other sites for certain searches, increasing the number of potential visitors and paying customers.” More here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_in_blogs

  2. I have added an anti – s . p . a . m . plug-in to your blog that purports to prevent spam by doing some behind-the-scenes magic. We’ll see if it helps. it’s called WP Captcha Free. Captcha is that thing where you have to re-type the twisty distorted text – I usually get it wrong. This is the same idea, but it does the work behind the scenes with a alphanumeric hash so the user doesn’t have to piddle around with figuring out what the heck the letters are. Nobody wants to do that.

  3. I just looked and there hasn’t been any spam since I installed that plug-in. Maybe that was the ticket.
