breakthrough

I believe it is important as an artist to constantly breakthrough to the next level. Doing the same old thing with the same old technique is very natural and it is very seductive to know somebody will probably buy the work if you do that. But there is another thing inside every artist to grow into a better artist.You only can get to the next level by going through uncharted territory. Who knows if people will buy the new thing. I think you have to be willing to fail pleasing others . That is easy to do when no one is buying your work but when they are selling then it is way harder. I think about what I would paint if I were in heaven. I would paint whatever I could think of with wild abandon. I would paint as if I was not the painter but only the observer. Total egoless art.
